BASIC ENTRY SKILLS PROGRAM (B.E.S.T.)

The Basic Entry Skills Training program serves as the foundation for every new cadet. It provides recruits with the essential knowledge, discipline, and skills needed to begin their journey within the Cadet Program. Through a structured and challenging training environment, recruits develop confidence, accountability. attention to detail, and professionalism while learning the standards and responsibilities expected of a cadet.

10-Week Training Program

Every new recruit is required to complete the 10-week B.E.S.T. program led by our Field Training Officers (F.T.O.). Throughout these weeks, recruits are introduced to the fundamental skills and expectations they will use throughout their time in the Cadet Program.

Training, Examination & Graduation

During the Open House, recruits will have the opportunity to learn more about the program, its structure, and what to expect from future training sessions. Following Open House, B.E.S.T. training is held Thursdays from 1800-2100 hours. At the end of the 10-week program, recruits complete a final exam covering the Cadet Manual and material taught throughout B.E.S.T. â€‹ Recruits who successfully complete the 10-week program and pass the final exam will officially become Cadets. In all honesty, I’ve always been a quiet person, but this program helped me find my voice and become a leader for others. Along the way I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime. Most importantly, the Cadets showed me that a career in law enforcement is where I want to be. Without this program, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
